The student or the student's family must be approved for one of the listed federal need-based programs (free/reduced-price lunch, SSI, TANF, SNAP, WIC), have experienced an extreme hardship affecting family income, or be participating in a designated Nebraska Department of Education Career Education program. Students without legal status in the United States, including DACA recipients, are ineligible by state law.
