Transferring credits in Oklahoma

Tuition is $0 to the student within the waiver cap. State Regents policy requires institutions to waive up to 18 credit hours during the SENIOR year for eligible concurrently enrolled Oklahoma high school seniors, and up to 9 credit hours for eligible JUNIORS subject to funds remaining after the senior waivers are reimbursed; the State Regents reimburse the institution for resident tuition. The waiver is tuition only - the policy states plainly that students are responsible for applicable fees and the cost of books and supplies, and hours beyond the cap are billed at the institution's normal rate. Some districts voluntarily help with books and fees, but that is local, not statewide.

Who can enroll. Applies to institutions of The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education (public colleges and universities) and covers high school juniors and seniors who meet the State Regents' concurrent-enrollment admission and course-placement requirements; the statute also protects home-instructed students aged at least 13 and under 21. The waiver amount is pegged to RESIDENT tuition, so nonresidents are not made whole. Junior-year waivers are subject to funding availability; the Regents set the underlying academic requirements (commonly a 19 ACT and 3.0 unweighted GPA for seniors), which are not in the statute itself.
