At Ivy Tech Community College — by far Indiana's largest dual credit provider — dual credit courses taught in the high school are free: the college states no tuition is charged to the student or to the school and that Ivy Tech absorbs the cost. This is NOT a statewide $0 guarantee. Indiana Commission for Higher Education rate policy (Policy on Rates for Dual Credit Courses Taken in a High School Setting, adopted May 2013, in.gov/che, applying to Indiana public colleges only) capped the rate charged to Indiana students for priority liberal arts, CTE and early college courses at $25 per credit hour; that ceiling window as written ran July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015 and could not be confirmed as still in force on any currently fetchable live state page, so it is not recorded as the numeric value here. Other providers (Vincennes, IU, Purdue, private colleges) set their own dual credit rates, and books/materials are generally not covered.
Who can enroll. Indiana high school students taking Ivy Tech dual credit at their own high school must show college readiness through a qualifying PSAT 10, SAT or ACT score, a cumulative GPA of 2.6 or higher for juniors and seniors, or the free Knowledge Assessment placement test. Courses span general education (English, math, sciences, social/behavioral sciences, humanities) and CTE. The $0 price applies only to Ivy Tech dual credit sections taught at a partner Indiana high school, not to Ivy Tech 'dual enrollment' courses taken on campus or online, which are billed at the regular part-time rate.
