Transferring credits in Idaho

Every student attending an Idaho public school gets a $4,625 lifetime Advanced Opportunities allocation usable in grades 7-12; the state pays up to $75 per dual credit hour directly to the postsecondary institution, so while funds remain the family typically pays $0 tuition. Idaho public institutions charge resident high school students a reduced dual credit rate (commonly $65-$75 per credit), so the allocation normally covers it in full. Not covered: lab and online course fees, books, supplies, transportation, any amount above $75 per credit, and all costs once the $4,625 is exhausted. The allocation is also shared with overload courses (max $225 each) and exam fees.

Who can enroll. Students attending Idaho public schools (including public charters) in grades 7 through 12; funds follow the student, not a GPA threshold, though each high school has an Advanced Opportunities designee and local request guidelines. To be a fundable dual credit the course must be a credit-bearing 100-level or higher course offered by a regionally accredited postsecondary institution, and the student must still meet the college's own admission/placement standards. The reduced $75-per-credit dual credit tuition rate at Idaho public colleges is limited to Idaho resident high school students.
