Transferring credits in California

For courses taken under a CCAP partnership agreement, the community college district governing board MUST exempt the pupil from the enrollment fee (Ed. Code 76300, normally $46 per unit), the health fee, the student representation fee, the parking fee and the student activity fee, and no fee prohibited by Section 49011 may be charged - so tuition is $0 to the family. This exemption is scoped to CCAP; for non-CCAP dual enrollment the $46/unit Ed. Code 76300 enrollment fee applies unless the district chooses to exempt special part-time students under 76300(f), which most but not all districts do. Textbooks, materials and transportation are not addressed by this section.

Who can enroll. High school pupils (including community school, continuation, juvenile court school and adult education diploma programs, charter schools and regional occupational centers) enrolled through a CCAP partnership agreement adopted by both a community college district and a school district or county office of education; the program targets pupils who are not already college bound or are underrepresented in higher education. One parental consent form and principal recommendation covers the pupil's whole participation. Physical education courses are barred. Scope: California Community Colleges only - CSU and UC dual enrollment is not covered.
