Tuition for CCP college courses is paid by the North Carolina General Assembly, so the family pays $0 tuition across all CCP pathways. Student FEES and TEXTBOOKS are NOT automatically covered - NCDPI states these may be paid in a variety of ways (by the college, the district, or the family) and directs families to ask their school counselor how those costs are handled locally. No statewide dollar figure for fees or books is published.
Who can enroll. Open to currently enrolled North Carolina high school students - including home school and private school students - who meet the eligibility criteria for their chosen pathway; students who have already graduated are not eligible. The NC Community College System markets CCP to students in 9th through 12th grade. Continuing eligibility requires making progress toward high school graduation and maintaining a 2.0 GPA in all college coursework; counselors or principals must confirm eligibility before enrollment. Pathways are College Transfer, Career and Technical Education, Cooperative Innovative High Schools (early colleges, which admit rising 9th graders and set their own criteria), and Career and College Ready. The program covers North Carolina community colleges and, for some pathways, UNC System universities - it does not cover private or out-of-state colleges.
